Finding a Summer Job

Howdy folks,

Is everyone surviving the heat?  Wow, as my second summer, what a doozy.  Believe it or not, but I have spent most of my time trying to find a summer job.  It’s not as easy as it sounds.  Here are all the jobs I tried.

As a coastal boy, my first logical attempt was the seafood industry.  Papa even gave me a lesson in clamming.

So off I went to work in fish market.  But I just could not handle the pace.

I thought, “perhaps I needed to be out on the open waters”.  So, I drove a fishing boat around.  But I was not quite tall enough to see where I was going.  That was a bit of a show stopper.

Maybe I am just more of a people person.  So the restaurant tried Kai and I out as waiters.  However, we found the table cloths too fun to focus on anything else.

OK. Forget the seafood biz.  What about lifeguarding?  That’s coastal as well.  Unfortunately, there were too many bikinis around that distracted me from the job.  “Hey ladies, P&J anyone?”

How about beach sports?  I have always been the athletic type.  So Kai, Brooke, and I tried everything.

Kayaking

Tubing

Surfing

Even Frisbee

Nothing seemed to stick.  Maybe it was the “beach” in beach sports that made it too difficult.  How about more traditional sports?    So we tried baseball

Basketball.  (warming up)

Basketball (on fire)

Rock climbing

Nope.  How about entertainment?  So we switched gears to fashion and took to shoe modeling

… and to the music industry.  Kai promoted his music CD with daddy on TV

And then did some dancing

Well, none of that worked.  So we thought, what else do we love.  DINOSAURS!  Of course, we can be archaeologists for the summer.

Problem is, we do not even know what happened 3 years ago, never mind 300 million years ago.  Maybe dinosaurs were too old.  How about something less old, like an antique car caretaker?

Well, the only person we knew with an antique car for the summer was Mimi and she did not need a caretaker.

That’s it.  Final stop is a janitor.  But with Daddy around teaching us to potty train, who wants to do that.

Wheww!  What a summer.  I will tell you, the best thing about summer jobs are they make family time even more fun.

I like Mommy and Daddy time…

… and Mimi and Papa time…

… and GramE and Papa time…

… and cousin Brooke time…

… and Uncle Beast and Aunt Melissa time…

….and Uncle Jason and Tia time….

…and just plain good old fashion family time.

But what about our friends.  We had some great times with them, like our neighbors Maddy, Charlie, Fiona, and Beckett.

We met up with Drew and Kate and Adeline and Clara in Maine.

Yet another generation of the Lewis, Laidlaw, and Roberge clan hung out in Lee.

We got our summer visit from Uncle Chico.

… and a nice surprise from Kennley, Sean, and Shelley

What a blast.  Have a great rest of summer.  Love, Zane
